How to start

At Kite Web Design we believe strongly in effective communication. This includes continuous consultation throughout the website-building process on our bespoke web builds.

We listen

Our initial consultation is a time for us to listen to the needs of the business or individual as well as a time to get a feel for the likes and dislikes of all those involved in the process.

Understanding your business or organisation is key to ensuring that your website will work well for your visitors. We have a wealth of relevant experience in sales and marketing as well as project management.

We will discuss and act in line with your goals to ensuring that your site continues to support your business over time.

We adapt

We can adapt to where you are now in your project or planning. This includes adapting your present artwork for website ‘look and feel’ compatibility or interpret your ideas to create a new style to represent you and your business.

For some clients the opportunity of going live on the web is an ideal time to rebrand and update their visual identity. Here we work with graphic designers who are specialists in totally rebranding or updating artwork and logos.

We advise

The design and ‘architecture’ of your site must work well together to ensure the visitor has a good experience while also finding out more about your organisation. It is our job to advise clients on how best to achieve this balance – the key to a good looking and usable site.

If you are going on the web for the first time we can help you choose the best host provider (or you have the option to use our provision). We can book your domain and set up your email accounts. If you are upgrading your site we are able to advise you (where needed) on a new hosting provider to provide the additional services you may need for your ‘new web environment’.

What you can do

If you would like to do some preparation or research before we speak you can start by looking at websites of others in your sector. Seeing what other people include on their site can help us all shape our own. Don’t be put off by businesses that show extensive content, they may have built this up over a number of years. Think about the things that are essential to you.

Turn your mind to the type of clients and visitors you would like to attract, you can be specific on age group or needs of the person.

What is the intention of your new site:

  • Is it to inform?
  • Is it to layout your services and pricing structure?
  • Is it to showcase your work?
  • Is it to be transactional, payments and purchases?
  • Is it a sales funnel eg. collecting email addresses for future communications?
  • Will you be showing your expertise, maybe by blogging?

Looking at other websites you like is very helpful for both you and to brief a web designer.

  • Make a note of the web address and what you like about the site.
  • Are the colours similar to the ones you would like to use?
  • Is the text readable and layout good for you?
  • Is there anything unusual on the site that you would like to replicate in your own design?

This information is a great way to frame the site’s build and get us on the path to starting.
